The 57th Annual Meeting of the CSAJ [Osaka] 2026 “Color opens the World.” (Second Announcement, call for papers)

The 57th Annual Meeting of the CSAJ 2026 will be held at the Ritsumeikan Ibaraki Future Plaza on the Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus, Ibaraki, Osaka. Submissions for research presentations and color design work will begin on January 12, 2026. We are pleased to invite you to participate. At this time, we plan to hold the conference as a hybrid event, combining in-person and remote participation.
We are planning an international session (presentations will be in English) for this conference.

Call for research presentation
Scope:
Recent original and unpublished research by the authors. The following are examples of research fields, but we also welcome cross-disciplinary presentations.
1. Color vision and physiology, 2. Color measurement, representation, and difference, 3. Color lighting and materials (lighting, light sources, dyes, pigments, etc.), 4. Color Information (recording, reproduction, image processing, analysis, and evaluation, etc.), 5. Color psychology (sensation, perception, cognition, emotion, harmony, etc.), 6. Color culture (history, ethnic/regional/traditional colors, etc.), 7. Color art (arts, Design, etc.), 8. Color education, 9. Color and skin, cosmetics, 10. Color environment/architecture, 11. Color and apparel/fashion, 12. Color Applications, others

Call for color design work
Scope:
Original, unpublished works recently created by the presenter. While the focus is on the design concept, production process description, and photographs, we will also consider physical exhibits and demonstrations within the scope acceptable to the organizers. Examples of presentation fields are as follows.
(A) Fashion color design (apparel, makeup, nails, hair makeup, personal color, etc.)
(B) Product color design (product Planning, advertising, etc.)
(C) Environmental color design (architecture, civil engineering, interior design, public design, landscape color planning, etc.)
(D) Others (artistic works, illusion Design, etc.)

Presentation formats and membership requirements
Presentation Formats:
(1) Oral (Approximately 12 to 15 minutes, including Q&A)
(2) Poster (Presenters will give a short presentation of their abstract, followed by interactive discussions with attendees to explain their work and answer questions)
Membership requirements:
At least one of the presenters or co-authors must be a member of the CSAJ. If all presenters are non-members, please complete membership procedures with the CSAJ when submitting your presentation application. Note that only members of this society (including student members) are eligible for consideration for the Presentation Encouragement Award (described below). If you wish to be considered for the Presentation Encouragement Award, please also complete the CSAJ membership procedures.
Notification of the presentation format:
The Transactions Editorial Committee and the Organization Committee will review the presentation abstracts. Based on this review, we will determine the presentation format (oral/poster) and notify the presenters. Please note that we may decline presentations that are significantly unrelated to color science, that defame specific individuals or organizations, that consist solely of praise or promotion of specific subjects and thus lack objectivity, or that otherwise deviate from the common sense expected for academic conference presentations.
The Presentation Encouragement Award – declaration to apply for review
The Presentation Encouragement Award of the CSAJ recognizes outstanding oral presenters and principal poster presenters who demonstrate future potential in research or color design presentations at this Conference.
Presenters meeting all of the following conditions (1) through (3) are eligible for the award. Applicants wishing to be considered must clearly indicate “Request for Consideration” on their “Presentation Application Form” at the time of submission. The Presentation Encouragement Award review committee will conduct the review and determine the recipients, who will be honored at the conference ceremony.
(1) CSAJ regular or student members who are 30 years of age or younger as of April 1, 2026 (born on or after April 2, 1995).
(2) Either an oral presenter or the designated presenter for a poster presentation at this conference, who declared to be considered for the Presentation Encouragement Award when submitting their presentation application.
(3) Individuals who have not previously received the Presentation Encouragement Award at an annual conference of the CSAJ.
