The Center for Imaging Science has research strengths in a number of areas, including astronomical imaging, biomedical imaging, color science, document reconstruction, imaging algorithms and systems modeling, nanoimaging and materials, optics, printers and displays, remote sensing, and visual perception. The successful applicant will be capable of enhancing and expanding RIT’s current imaging science and/or color science research expertise while also teaching fundamental courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. (Information about the imaging and color curricula can be found at www.cis.rit.edu.)

CIS is an interdisciplinary university research and education center offering undergraduate and masters and PhD degrees in Imaging Science, masters and PhD degrees in Color Science and, in conjunction with the Physics and Mathematics departments, PhD degrees in Astrophysical Sciences and Technology. For further information see http://www.cis.rit.edu.

The Center’s Munsell Color Science Laboratory (mcsl.rit.edu) is one of the world’s leading academic laboratories dedicated specifically to color science. RIT and the surrounding community have a rich history in imaging and color science research and applications. There are many opportunities for collaborations across the RIT campus with diverse research and academic programs including astrophysics, computer graphics, computer science, digital cinema, engineering, graphic arts, material science, and sustainability.

Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in a related field.
